It is now exactly one o'clock, and we're tuned in at 90.3. K-E-X-P here in Seattle. I'm Stevie Zoom. That was a request for the song, Astronaut, by the band Luna from their recent EP. Right now we're going to have some live music in the studio, and with me is the band local band here from Seattle, Voyager 1. And thank you guys for coming in here this afternoon. Thank you. Why don't we go around the room and have an introduction of the band? OK. My name is Peter. I play guitar and sing. Next. Oh, that's right. Couple of folks don't have mics, so if you want to help out the code, that would be cool.
My name is Jeremy. I play guitar. And Tony's over there on drums, playing drums. Oh, yeah. Kirk. He's sitting on the floor. All right. Thank you very much. The new album is called Monster Zero. The band is playing tonight at the Crocodile Cafe, along with the drop, and Neo. And we'll talk about the band and the music and the record and everything, but if you guys are ready to play, your first song, we'd love to hear one. All right. Here it goes. Thank you. How's your love? You've gone to a claim.

I will give my heart And And
And came across the radio. He would have had a first there. Yeah, well we we tried to figure out how to make that work. How did you get hooked up hooked up with these guys? How did it all start? Oh boy, friend of a friend introduced us together right back right when the band first started 98 or so. Yeah he played
our first show with his first show sort of together. It was just starting out and it's just evolved together over the years. Were you guys looking to do visuals from the very beginning when you started forming the band? Was that something you thought about? We kind of were because we knew that we were doing a lot of you know dancing on pedals and that kind of stuff. We knew we were going to be kind of boring on stage so we wanted to kind of bring another element into into the live performance you know and none better than this guy you know he does excellent excellent work you know so yeah it was perfect for us both serendipity at the timing on both on you know his part in our part both ready for that the same time so it was really great. It continues to be great. I couldn't think of a better soundtrack for what I do. It's excellent all verified from the live live shows I've seen the you know what you do is is just that synchronicity there with the band it really works well. I enjoy it. Yeah we consider him a fifth number. Fifth member. The fifth Voyager one. If you guys are ready I know you're tuning up a little bit whenever you guys are in sync here
for a new tune or I should say the next tune then we'd love to hear another song live here in the studio from Voyager 1. Okay this next one is is on the record Monster Zero it's called the gun. It's going wrong.
If you would like it at the end. Just a place, just a place Just a place, just a place Just a place, just a place No, I ain't an agronica You just quit out with no way You know that I'm a god of god You just quit out with no way
You know that I'm agronica You know that I'm agronica You know that I'm agronica You know that I'm agronica You know that I'm agronica And if you're just tuning in, you're listening to 90.3, K-E-X-P, live music from local
band Voyager 1. Their new album is Monster Zero and again they're playing a Christmas party tonight at the crocodile along with the drop and Neo. And I wanted to ask you guys, you know, a couple years ago here in town there was that two-night that Terastock music festival bands that, you know, just kind of explore all kinds of things that are, you know, related in a way but definitely a lot of exploration and psychedelic sounds and stuff. And it's all kind of, I guess Nick Solomon, the Bevis Frond, are kind of behind it. And it was here in Seattle for a couple of nights. And I was wondering, if since then, because you got to hook up with a lot of bands across the country and a lot of bands from England and Europe were here, you know, if there's a network kind of thing, does it, you get to follow up in a way with some of those folks? We did make some friends actually at that show, but mostly that the West Coast people is what we, you know, as a band called Subrachnoid Space, who exists in San Francisco and those guys are really good. We made friends with them. We played some other shows with some other therastock people, but as far as the England connection, it's so far away, you know, it's really far away. So we had not as far as the Bevis Frond or anything. We haven't, although
Kirk keeps up with those guys. And apparently, we do have sort of a sort of an inn, I guess, and that's circle somewhere, but he'd have to explain it to you. I don't really understand it. It's too confusing for me. Yeah. Other than, you know, just a couple of nights where a lot of bands from different places come together and, you know, you get to meet them and say hi and, oh, I like the sound of your band. Never quite sure if there's any way that you can really sort of, you know, connect in a way to help out bands when a lot of them are quite a ways away. A lot of that stuff does happen. I mean, definitely in America here, you know, a lot of bands that are of similar styles or, you know, play together and stuff and help each other out. I think that's really great, actually. And we've done that with quite a few bands up and down the West Coast. Unfortunately, we've only made it as far as the West Coast. So, you know, we don't know what's going on as far as the East Coast, but Kinsky tells us that's where we should go. Is that part of the, hopefully, maybe part of the grand plan for 2003? 2003, we will be hitting the East Coast for sure. So, yeah, it's in the works. So, maybe it might need a bigger van. What a more space for everybody. More air fresheners, actually, is what we need. Green apple and hockey honeysuckle. Tell
us a little bit about the side project. Sirhan Duran. Yeah, let's do it. Jerry, want you to take that one? Sirhan Duran is myself and Peter and Bill Bernard from ex-skycries Mary and Heather Doobie fame and also head full of stars, his solo outfit. And the premise of Sirhan Duran is you go to a mountain cabin and you record something for eight minutes, just one sound. And then somebody takes a turn and records something else on top of it for eight minutes, just an idea. There's nothing written. And then we mix them months later, sometimes years later, and sort of remove parts and add other parts and we say, well, that's what sounds like a chorus. I mean, there's really not such a thing in that particular project as choruses or verses, but there's no vocals or anything. And it's just pure, you know, whatever happened that day is what goes on it. And we got finally got the record done and it's going to be put out in March and we've got Adam from Yumi Bitsu, who's a great, great, great look, well, Portland van. I'm going to do a remix and Sonic Boom from Spaceman 3 is going to do a remix.
So we should have a remix record as well. I think Chris from Kinsky, he also was on a couple of the songs. He wants to do a mix too. So that's the idea with that. Yeah, that's kind of experimental and just improv stuff, you know, just really low pressure stuff, you know, but it's really cool. It turned out really well. Sounds pretty interesting. Definitely looking forward to hearing that. And again, Voyager 1 is playing tonight at the crocodile cafe along with a drop and also Neo. And then again, the new one is called Monster Zero. And I think you guys are ready for one more tune here this afternoon. We've got one more. This is on the record too. It's called Wires. Yeah, yeah.
And then you'll get Swimming behind It's going to jump out
